#108 Are your registrars receiving their rostered fortnightly training time?
17 October 2019
Clause 34 of the 2018-2021 Doctors-in-Training (DiT) Enterprise Agreement outlines the entitlement of all Victorian registrars to receive 10 hours per fortnight of training time that is rostered and free from clinical service. Registrars have a right to object if they feel that the type of training time provided is not truly free from service or inappropriate.
This training time must appear in their published roster and is in addition to their 38 hours of service per week. If a registrar works through their allocated training time those hours must be paid as overtime and the training time should be rescheduled.
Prolonged failure to provide this entitlement to registrars in a particular unit at Western Health has resulted in AMA Victoria escalating the issue to the Fair Work Commission. Over the next month, our Workplace Relations team will be auditing rosters at all health services to ensure that they are complying with this clause. We would like specialists and DiTs to work together to ensure that registrars are receiving this entitlement.
