You are in the final stages of preparing your job applications for next year.  It can be a stressful time and very difficult work, as you attempt to take those documents from good to ‘great’! 

To help you navigate this we would like to share our tips on how to complete that final edit and review so you can transition your final draft to a completed ‘ready to upload’ application submission. 

Follow the steps below:

1. Does your opening paragraph HOOK the reader?
   • Will they keep reading?
2. Do you have a unique selling proposition? 
   • Is this clearly communicated?
3. Have you clearly articulated your point(s) of differentiation?
4. Have you made a connection with the health service / college? 
   • Does your ‘Why them’ demonstrate a deep level of understanding about the health service / training program and the work/training experience they offer?
   • Does it sound genuine and authentic?
   • Have you found an ‘anchor’ point that demonstrates clearly your ‘connection’?
5. With the claims you have made, have you provided evidence to back them up?
6. Do your paragraphs clearly sign post for the reader what to expect from the paragraph?
7. Does each sentence pass the ‘so-what’ test?
8. Is your content easy to read, succinct and clear?
9. Have you waffled or is your language unnecessarily flowery?
10. Have you made your points quickly, with strength & conviction?
11. Does your personality come through in the letter?
12. Would you hire ‘you’?
